About this stone
From the legendary pegmatite fields of Skardu in Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan comes this 1.5-kilogram statement piece: multiple crystals of gem-quality green tourmaline — vivid lime-green, striated along their length in the classic verdelite fashion — growing directly from a matrix of lepidolite mica and white feldspar. Lepidolite, a lithium-rich mica, forms in the same lithium-enriched pegmatite pockets that produce fine tourmaline, and finding the two in natural association on a single specimen of this size is a genuine collector score. The tourmaline color here is exceptional — not the pale olive of common material, but a saturated green that hints at the gemstones that lie within these crystals. Natural, untreated, direct from one of the world's great mineral localities.
