1. Why crystals work in feng shui
Crystals are prized for real, physical reasons. Many — like quartz and tourmaline — are piezoelectric: they generate a tiny electric charge under pressure, which is why quartz keeps time in watches. Their ordered lattices refract and scatter light, lifting a dim corner. And as dense, formed-over-millennia minerals, they read as grounded, stable “earth energy” in a space. In feng shui we use that focus intentionally: a stone marks a zone and gives the eye — and the intention — somewhere to settle.

3. How to cleanse and activate crystals
Cleanse a new or well-used stone to clear accumulated energy: run it under cool water, rest it on a bed of selenite overnight, or leave it in indirect moonlight. (Skip water and direct sun for soft or fade-prone stones like selenite, malachite, and amethyst.) Activate it by holding it for a moment and naming what you'd like it to support in that zone — wealth, calm, focus.
4. Placement tips
• Place stones at roughly eye or heart height where you'll actually notice them — a shelf, a windowsill — not hidden in a drawer. • Give them light; refraction is part of the effect. • Group in odd numbers (one, three) for a settled look, except in the Love (SW) zone where pairs reinforce partnership. • Keep them clean and dust-free — neglected crystals stop feeling intentional.
