This is a pegmatite in miniature — a snapshot of the extraordinary geological environment where some of Earth's most beautiful minerals crystallize together in a single pocket. From the mountains of Pakistan comes this richly detailed specimen: bright apple-green tourmaline crystals scattered like scattered emeralds across a bed of silvery-white mica, crowned by a cluster of glassy quartz points that catch light from every angle. The tourmaline here is verdelite — the green variety of elbaite — and the crystals show the characteristic vertical striations running down each prism face that make tourmaline instantly recognizable to any collector. Some emerge as sharp blades, others as shorter stubby prisms, all in that vivid fresh green that Pakistan's Gilgit-Baltistan region is famous for worldwide. A whisper of lavender at the base hints at the full mineral richness of the pegmatite pocket this came from.
