Turn it once more and you find the contact zone: raw crystal texture bleeding into smooth banding, golden goethite inclusions glittering along the boundary, the whole geological story of this stone laid open in a single view. This is what happens when an amethyst geode forms inside an agate nodule over millions of years, and someone has the skill — and the courage — to cut it into a sphere.
