Acerca de esta piedra
A fluorite specimen from Fujian Province, China, showing one of the most distinctive growth habits the mineral produces: stepped or pagoda growth, where each cube grew slightly offset from the one beneath it, building terraced staircases across the entire face.
The color grading is the other half of the appeal. Crystal interiors are pale lavender to near-colorless, deepening to a saturated violet along every cube edge and corner — a phase-zoning effect that happens when trace element concentration in the mineralizing fluid shifts as the crystal grows. The result is that the structure outlines itself in purple, and every step and terrace reads clearly instead of getting lost in solid color.
Turn the piece and the staircases run in different directions on different faces, meeting in ridges and valleys. The back preserves the original matrix contact in orange-tan iron-stained rock, with a band of small colorless crystals along one edge.
Fujian is one of the more recent major fluorite localities to reach collectors, and the stepped habit is characteristic of the district. Displays well from any angle, with no cutting or polishing anywhere — this is exactly as it came out of the ground.
Species: Fluorite
Origin: Fujian Province, China
Weight: 391 g
Dimensions: 11 × 7 × 7 cm
Habit: stepped/pagoda cubic growth with edge color zoning
Condition: entirely natural, uncut and unpolished
Care: fluorite is soft (Mohs 4) and has perfect cleavage in four directions — it chips and cleaves easily if knocked or dropped. Handle by the matrix, keep out of direct sunlight, which can fade the purple over time.
